SPECIALTIES PROJECTS
Colin Onaka’s 69 Camaro
Colin Onaka is from Hawaii, and contracted ATS to build
him a corner carving 69 Camaro. We gave Colin multiple
options for building his car, and he ultimately chose
one he could service himself, and enjoy driving rain or
shine.
We started with a complete 69 Camaro from Seattle, WA
that had undergone a fresh restoration only 3 year
previous. The body was completely rust-free and the
paint and interior were flawless. We pulled the
350 and powerglide from the car, as well as the entire
rear suspension to get started. After removing the front
subframe and blasting it down to bare metal, we grind
out all the old welds, and re-stitch the frame to make
it stronger. The frame is getting outfitted with
Global West control arms, Coil over shocks, and AFX
spindles. A set of CAT5 rear leafs and a Currie 9 inch
rear will go great with the DSE mini tub kit. Subframe
connectors have been installed, and the LS6 from a 02
Z06 Corvette is getting a Carbed Victor Jr manifold and
T56 six speed. Touring classic will be the braking
system, topped off by some Fikse Mach V wheels. Check
back for updates as we begin the LSX swap.
