AMERICAN TOURING
SPECIALTIES PROJECTS
Dave Bragg’s 1969 Camaro
Dave met the crew at ATS during the final thrashing of
Chris Padilla’s 1968 Camaro overhaul. He liked what we
did to the vehicle, and he decided that a T56 was in
order for this former drag car. The vehicle was dropped
off to us while we were showing at the 2005 SEMA show.
We installed a T56 with blow-proof bell housing behind
his 540 hp small block. The setup was the first step in
his pro-touring conversion which now includes an Art
Morrison custom made 4 link rear, soon to be installed
Wayne Due C5 front clip with Baer 6 post calipers and
newly built BBC. We start by removing the interior, old
auto Trans, and related brackets/shifter. We installed
McLeod’s new modular blow-proof bell housing onto the
engine, along with a Street Twin dual disc clutch with
an aluminum flywheel. We modified the McLeod master to
work with the ATS firewall bracket and 69 Camaro clutch
pedal, while installing a McLeod hydraulic throw out
bearing onto the Rockland Standard LT1 style T56 with
Viper internals. The T56 is hung on our bolt in 3pc
tubular cross member, and topped off with a Mark
Williams Carbon Fiber driveshaft. The vehicle headed
home for the frame swap, and BBC install.
